Aviation engines must undergo a very demanding quality assurance and traceability process as mandated and monitored by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This process requires long lead times, seamless coordination, and thorough documentation and accountability to ensure that the hardware, software, environmental and safety aspects of the engine meet all FAA requirements.
EPS initiated the approval process in September 2013, submitting its plan for certification to the Chicago-based FAA Aircraft Certification Office. We have contracted with a team of five Designated Engineering Representatives (DERs) to coordinate with the FAA to ensure that our design strategies are understood. This team is headed by an experienced contractor with a reputation for capably moving plans through the complex steps necessary to gain approval. We expect certification to be granted well in 2016.
